Our sweet Brooklyn is six months old. We can't believe how fast the time has flown by. Brooklyn is now over 12 pounds and over 22 inches long. She is getting to be a big girl. We are so thankful for all of the progress she is making. She goes for her six month check up on Thursday. It has been the longest six months of our life but the last month has been the best. She has been home now for one month and one week. She really has made so much progress in the past month. Brooklyn can hold rattles in her hands and she can lift her head up. She can also turn on one side and stay there for a few minutes. We are looking forward to playing with her all summer long. I will try and update the blog more often this summer when I have a little more free time.

Good News Report
Matthew and Mimi took Brooklyn to the Pulmonologist (lung doctor) today to have her lungs checked. She got a great report. The doctor said Brooklyn is doing great. She doesn't have to go back until September when she will have to get her RSV vaccine. She will have to go each month during RSV season for a vaccine. For some reason the vaccine is only good for one month at a time. I also got a report from the Pedi about Brooklyn's bloodwork from last week. Everything looks normal on the report so we are pleased with that. Also, Brooklyn weighs 12 lbs and 4 ounces and is 22 1/2 inches long. She is growing so fast. We are so thankful. She is also doing better on her nipple eating. She is taking from 50-60ml of her bottle by mouth. Brooklyn is also improving on her developmental milestones. She is starting to raise her head up when she is on her tummy now. She is also starting to like tummy time more. Brooklyn was very anti-tummy time in the beginning. Until next time.....

Random Pictures
Brooklyn has been doing well. She is 11 pounds and 11 ounces now. She is getting so big. I've been taking lots of pictures of Brooklyn since we have been home. I dress her up and take pictures everyday. We have an audiology appointment on Friday to have her ears rechecked. She passed her first newborn screen but because she was given an antibiotic during her stay in the NICU she has to have them rechecked. We also have another appointment with the Pedi on Friday as well. I am posting some random pictures from the last few weeks. She has finally decided that she likes bath day. She is quite the spa diva now. Tomorrow the Occupational Therapist will come and do an assessment on Brooklyn and let us know what areas we need to work on to get her on track developmentally.

Mother's Day
What a blessing it was to have my baby girl home on Mother's Day. I had the best first Mother's Day ever! My mom and dad came over to celebrate with us. Matthew grilled out fajitas for lunch and we got to celebrate my first Mother's Day and my mom's 34th Mother's Day. It was a great time. My sweet husband bought me a dozen red roses and I got a charm bracelet with a heart charm that says mommy and a charms of a pair of baby girl shoes. Then the best part was getting a Mother's Day card from Brooklyn that had the outline of her hands drawn on the card. Thanks to my sweet husband and his creative ideas I now have a treasured card of our baby girl's hand prints on our first Mother's Day together.

Brooklyn's Nursery
I am attaching some pictures of Brooklyn's nursery. I know everyone is excited to see her and her nursery. We are under doctor's orders to have limited visitors and we are not allowed to leave the house except for doctor's appointments for the next two months. This is pretty standard practice for NICU babies especially given all of Brooklyn's additional health issues. Thanks for understanding and I hope you enjoy the pictures. Sometime this summer Brooklyn will make her debut out in public.
