Updates Updates

Brooklyn's button has officially been gone for two weeks now. She is doing great. The hole in her belly is healing up very nicely. We keep a bandage on it that we change daily. It should take up to six weeks to completely heal. It has stopped draining so it should continue to heal without any problems. Brooklyn eats solid food three times a day now since her button has been removed. This is in addition to her Neosure formula. She has really gotten down the whole eating thing. She went to the pulmonologist (lung doctor) and the cardiologist (heart doctor) last week. She got excellent reports from both of them. She is growing like a weed. She is now 17 pounds and 2 ounces and is 26.5 inches long. She is outgrowing all of her 6 month jammies. I had to go and buy her some 9 month ones. Her little toes were about to bust out of the feet of the 6 month jammies. I am so thankful to be able to say she is outgrowing her clothes. There was a time I was just praying for her to get big enough to wear clothes. I remember when she hit the 4 pound mark and was allowed to wear clothes for the first time. What an exciting day that was for us!! More exciting news comes in the form of two front bottom teeth. Brooklyn was gnawing on Matthew's finger the other day and he felt something sharp so we looked in her mouth and we saw the tips of two bottom front teeth. It was an exciting moment for us. In addition to her new teeth she has also started saying "daddy" more clearly. She has been saying it for a while but we can hear it more clearly now. She doesn't say it all the time but when she does we know what she is saying. She is working on her sitting skills. She gets better everyday. She still has to use her hands to hold herself up but she is trying to balance. The OT still comes to our house every two weeks to work with her. She is working on trying to get Brooklyn to crawl. Right now she kicks her legs like she is swimming but she doesn't go anywhere. We are waiting on Brooklyn to get her RSV vaccine this month the doctor will call us to let us know when it arrives. She has to get one monthly during RSV season which runs from October 1st to April 1st. She already got her flu shot so now her mommy and daddy just need to get theirs.
